We are very happy to announce the Quarter 4 Level 2 funding recipients as follows.
Hurt to Help Limited
Hurt to Help is a charity dedicated to providing financial aid to individuals and families who have endured tough times. Their support extends to those dealing with medical treatments, accidents, domestic violence and natural disasters. The charity was formed by Ethan Stirrat, who grew up in Muntadgin in the central Wheatbelt of Western Australia.
Taking place in the central wheatbelt, the Bin 2 Bin Marathon is a running event which aims to build the strength of the community whilst raising funds for the Hurt to Help charity. Participants come from all across WA and compete across 6 categories, running between the Mount Walker CBH bin and the Narembeen CBH bin. The CCF is pleased to support this initiative for the second year and is providing funding to cover the cost of event resources and signage.
Merredin Hockey Club
Merredin Hockey Club is based at the Merredin Regional Community & Leisure Centre (MRCLC) with four teams taking the field each season. Membership has been growing steadily over the years with approximately 100 players in attendance each Saturday.
The CCF grant will be used as a contribution towards a new electronic scoreboard to be installed at the MRCLC. This will replace the current manual scoreboard and will hopefully provide a greater experience for players and spectators. This initiative is a collaboration with the Burracoppin Hockey Club that is also based at the centre. These two clubs as well as other sporting codes that utilise the playing grounds will benefit from this new scoreboard installation.
Merredin Show Inc
The Merredin Show is a major community event held in March each year. The show attracts approximately 2,500 people from across the region to the town of Merredin for a day of entertainment, activities and displays. The Merredin Show is a popular attraction, especially with families and the show aims to provide as much free entertainment as possible to keep the show accessible.
The Collgar Community Fund has supported the Merredin Show for a number of years now, and recognises the positive social impact and ongoing benefit that this event provides to the local community. This grant will be used to cover the cost of free entry for children and to ensure the show remains accessible to all.
Parkrun Australia Ltd
Parkrun is a not-for-profit organisation who provide free, weekly, timed 5km events where participants can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. There are currently 2,200 weekly events held in 23 countries around the world, with each event delivered by local volunteer teams following the same simple operating model to ensure a consistent experience.
This great initiative is being launched in Merredin and will provide the community with the opportunity to increase physical activity, build community connections and to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. CCF’s grant will support the establishment of this initiative by helping to cover the cost of signage, materials for volunteers and a first aid kit.
Mt Walker Sports Club
The Mt Walker Sports Club is based in Narembeen and is a hub to the local community. Several sports and activities take place at the club, and it is the primary venue for local community members to meet and participate in competitions and weekly fitness classes.
This CCF grant has been awarded to the Club for the painting of a mural by a local artist on the existing tennis wall. It is hoped that a fresh look will improve the overall aesthetics of the space and encourage greater use of the space by the community. Whilst also supporting and promoting a local artist.
Congratulations to all the successful grant recipients. The Collgar Community Fund is pleased to support these worthwhile projects that will have a positive impact on the local community.
